💬 Expressing Opinions Clearly
Mon Coach Pro — English Skills Lesson
1. Giving Your Opinion Confidently
Structures utiles :
- In my opinion, ... — à mon avis, ...
- I think / I believe that ... — je pense / je crois que ...
- From my point of view, ... — de mon point de vue, ...
- As far as I'm concerned, ... — en ce qui me concerne, ...
- Personally, I feel that ... — personnellement, je pense que ...
Exemple : "In my opinion, learning English is essential for young professionals in Côte d'Ivoire."
2. Justifying Your Point of View
Connecteurs de justification :
- because — parce que (suivi d'une phrase complète)
- since / as — puisque, étant donné que
- due to the fact that — en raison du fait que
- this is why — c'est pourquoi
Exemple : "I believe remote work is beneficial because it saves time and reduces transport costs, especially in busy cities like Abidjan."
3. Using Logical Connectors
| Fonction | Connecteurs |
|---|---|
| Ajouter une idée | moreover, in addition, furthermore, also |
| Opposer une idée | however, on the other hand, nevertheless, although |
| Donner un exemple | for example, for instance, such as |
| Organiser ses idées | firstly, secondly, finally |
| Conclure | therefore, in conclusion, to sum up, as a result |
Exemple : "Firstly, English opens professional opportunities. Moreover, it helps you access international resources. However, it takes regular practice. In conclusion, learning English is a worthwhile investment."
4. Fact vs Opinion
Différence essentielle :
- A fact can be proven true or false.
- An opinion expresses a personal belief or feeling.
Fact : "Bouaké is a city in Côte d'Ivoire."
Opinion : "I think Bouaké is one of the most welcoming cities in the country."
Opinion : "I think Bouaké is one of the most welcoming cities in the country."
5. Participating in a Discussion
Phrases utiles pour discuter :
- I agree with you because...
- I see your point, but... — je comprends ton point de vue, mais...
- That's an interesting point. — c'est un point intéressant.
- I'd like to add that... — j'aimerais ajouter que...
- Could you explain that a bit more? — pourrais-tu expliquer un peu plus ?
💡 Astuce : Ne confonds pas "I think" (opinion douce) et "I'm sure" (certitude forte).
🧑🏫
Coach Assoa : ZERO PANIC ! Practice makes perfect, let's go !

"In my opinion, remote work is one of the best changes in the modern workplace. Firstly, it saves employees a lot of time because they don't need to travel every day. Moreover, it reduces stress and allows a better balance between work and family life. However, some people think remote work can be isolating, since you don't see your colleagues in person. Personally, I believe the advantages are greater than the disadvantages, especially for parents and people who live far from their office. To sum up, remote work is not perfect, but it offers real benefits for many employees today."
