Why Everyone Should Learn English

In my opinion, learning English is no longer a luxury reserved for a few — it has become a necessity for almost everyone. The main reason is that English has quietly become the world's default language for business, science, and technology. From my point of view, this simple fact alone should convince most people to take the language seriously.

There is strong evidence that professionals who speak English confidently earn higher salaries and access far more career opportunities than those who don't. Multinational companies routinely require English for even entry-level positions, and most cutting-edge research, whatever the field, is published in English first.

Of course, some people argue that focusing on a foreign language takes valuable time away from mastering one's own. I see their point, but I'm afraid the reality of today's connected economy makes that argument increasingly weak. One important advantage of English is that it also opens up access to entertainment, travel, and online education, since a huge share of courses, films, and books are only fully available in their English version.

Therefore, whether the goal is career growth, further studies abroad, or simply broadening one's perspective on the world, learning English offers something for almost everyone. In conclusion, I strongly believe that in today's globalised world, English is not an optional extra — it is an essential skill.
