Last Summer, Kouassi Went to Grand-Bassam
Last summer, Kouassi went to Grand-Bassam with his family for a short holiday. They left Abidjan early in the morning and arrived at the beach around ten o'clock. Did Kouassi enjoy the trip? Absolutely — he swam in the sea, ate fresh grilled fish, and visited the old colonial buildings in the historic town.
On the second day, something unexpected happened. Kouassi lost his phone on the beach. He looked everywhere but couldn't find it. Luckily, a young boy found it in the sand and brought it back to him. Kouassi thanked him and gave him a small gift.
In the evening, the family sat together and talked about their day. Kouassi's mother asked him, "What did you learn today?" He answered, "I learned that people can be very kind, even to strangers."
When they returned to Abidjan three days later, Kouassi didn't stop talking about his trip. He told everyone at school about the boy who found his phone, and how grateful he felt.
Did this small event change how Kouassi saw the world? Maybe just a little.
