National School Debate Competition

Every year, students from all over Côte d'Ivoire compete in the National School Debate Competition in Abidjan. This year, teams from Bouaké, Yopougon, and Cocody faced each other on the topic: "Should exams like the BAC be replaced by continuous assessment?" The team from Bouaké, led by Rodrigue, argued that continuous assessment reduces stress and gives a fairer picture of a student's abilities throughout the year. "In my opinion, one single exam cannot measure a whole year of learning," Rodrigue said. The team from Cocody disagreed. Their captain, Aminata, replied, "I understand your point, however the BAC guarantees the same standard for every student in the country." The judges praised both teams for their strong arguments and diplomatic tone. In the end, the Bouaké team won the competition, thanks to their clear examples and confident delivery. The event ended with a reminder from the organizers: "The goal of debate is not to win an argument, but to understand different points of view."
