Kouamé's Career Change

Last year, Kouamé worked as a sales assistant in a small shop in Yopougon. Although he enjoyed meeting customers, he often felt that his talents were being wasted. His manager, whom he respected a lot, told him that if he wanted a better future, he should improve his English and consider further training.

At first, Kouamé wasn't sure this advice was realistic. He had never been very confident with foreign languages, and he thought that changing careers at twenty-eight might be too risky. However, after discussing it with Adjoua, a colleague who had recently been promoted, he decided to give it a try.

Adjoua explained that she had studied English online for almost a year before she got her new position. She said that if she hadn't taken that course, she would still be doing the same job. This conversation convinced Kouamé that change was possible, provided that he stayed disciplined.

Since then, Kouamé has been attending evening classes twice a week. He has also started reading business articles in English, which has significantly improved his vocabulary. Although progress can be slow sometimes, he is determined not to give up. He must submit an application for a marketing internship next month, and he knows that this opportunity, unless he prepares carefully, could easily slip away.

Nowadays, whenever people ask him about his plans, Kouamé smiles and says that hard work always pays off eventually.
