📖 Reading Comprehension Test

The Science of Effective Revision

Many students believe that spending long hours re-reading their notes is the best way to prepare for an exam. However, research shows that this method is far less effective than active recall and spaced repetition. If you test yourself regularly instead of simply rereading material, you will remember information far longer. Furthermore, when learners space their revision sessions across several days rather than cramming the night before, they consistently perform better on tests.

One useful technique is the "error log": whenever you make a mistake, you write it down along with the correct answer. Over time, this log reveals which grammar points or vocabulary items you struggle with most. Since these weak areas are usually repeated across different exercises, targeting them directly saves a great deal of time.

Another key strategy is timed practice. If students had regularly practised under real exam conditions, they would feel far less anxious on the actual test day. Timed mock exams also help learners manage their pace, so that they don't run out of time before finishing.

Finally, sleep plays a surprisingly important role. Students who sleep well the night before an exam generally perform better than those who stay up late studying. Consequently, a calm, well-rested mind, combined with consistent practice throughout the year, is the most reliable path to success.

✍️ Writing Test

📝 Consigne : Write a short reflection (150–200 words) on your English learning journey this year.

Your text must include :

— at least one reported speech sentence (e.g. something a teacher or friend told you)
— at least one conditional sentence (any type)
— at least one modal of probability (must / might / could…)
— at least one linking word (however / therefore / furthermore…)

💡 Tip Coach Assoa : Relis le texte de lecture ci-dessus — il combine déjà tous ces éléments naturellement. Utilise-le comme modèle de style.

📝 Modèle de réponse — Coach Assoa

This year, my English has improved more than I expected. At the beginning, I struggled with basic tenses, but my coach told me that consistency mattered more than talent. If I hadn't practised a little every day, I probably wouldn't have made so much progress. However, grammar wasn't the only challenge; vocabulary and confidence took time too. I must admit that speaking in front of others was the hardest part at first. Nevertheless, weekly speaking exercises helped me a lot. Furthermore, learning phrasal verbs and idioms made my English sound more natural. There were moments when I might have given up, especially during difficult revision weeks, but I kept going. Therefore, I now feel much more confident using English in real conversations, and I know that continuing this routine will keep improving my level even further.
