Semaine 6 – Jour 5 – Révision + Listening Test
INTRODUCTION
Toute la semaine, tu as appris à comparer.
Tu as utilisé :
comparatives (-er / more)
superlatives (the best / the most…)
as…as / not as…as
much / far / a little
Aujourd’hui, tu vérifies si tout est clair.
Ce n’est pas une leçon.
C’est une consolidation.
Si tu peux comparer naturellement,
alors la structure est intégrée.

EXERCICE
📚 Comparatives & Superlatives — B2
Advanced structures · double comparatives · intensifiers
far more · the higher … the better · by far the most · nowhere near as
At B2 level, you must go beyond bigger than. Use intensifiers to express degree precisely.
slightly / a little / somewhat + comparative (small difference)
no + comparative (= same level, not better)
This structure expresses a proportional relationship between two things — as one increases, so does the other.
→ Both parts follow the same pattern.
✘ More you study, more you learn.
✔ The more you study, the more you learn.
Strengthen superlatives with intensifiers to sound more natural and precise at B2 level.
easily the + superlative → informal, confident
arguably the + superlative → expressing a debatable opinion
one of the + superlative + plural noun → partial superlative
Go beyond basic as … as with these B2 negative and emphatic equality forms.
every bit as … as → equally, just as much (emphatic positive)
twice / three times as … as → expressing multiples
not nearly as … as → less than expected
A variation of the double comparative, expressing inverse or parallel proportions.
The less … the more → inverse relationship
| Structure | Meaning | Example |
|---|---|---|
| far / much more … than | strong difference | Far more complex than expected. |
| slightly / a little more … than | small difference | Slightly better than before. |
| no + comparative | no improvement | No easier than the last one. |
| the + comp … the + comp | proportional relationship | The more you try, the better you get. |
| by far the + superlative | strongest, most emphatic | By far the best solution. |
| arguably / easily the + superlative | emphatic opinion | Arguably the most important skill. |
| one of the + superlative + plural | partial superlative | One of the most challenging tasks. |
| nowhere near as … as | much less (emphatic) | Nowhere near as fast as before. |
| every bit as … as | equally (emphatic) | Every bit as talented as her sister. |
| twice / three times as … as | multiple comparison | Twice as expensive as last year. |
| not nearly as … as | much less than expected | Not nearly as simple as it looks. |
| the more … the less | inverse proportion | The more you rush, the less you achieve. |
